He was buried in the fence corner on his farm along with his son Martin, on top of Hardscrabble Hill. It is said buried in the corner of the field across from the house and a little ways southeast of the house and before where Hardscrabble Schoolhouse stood

At one time in the late 1970's early 1980's descendants had talked of erecting a monument for him.

Note Mary Susan's obit says Jacob died 45 years previous - she died 1935 would make death year 1890.
