Disambiguation
http://www.carolshouse.com/familyhistory/boler/ states:
"Many Boulware family members claim descendancy from the prominent Thomas Bowler, owner's of Bowler's Wharf, through his proven son James. But that lineage appears to be in error. Bowler's Wharf was inherited by Thomas Bowler's daughter Anne, who married Richard Cocke, indicating his son probably died without heirs.”

Notes per Bev Long Oct 2014:
"Two brothers, James and William Boulware, came to the colony of Virginia, almost certainly from England, around 1662. These two brothers bought a 783 acre tract of land in Old Rappahannock County, Virginia. (subsequently became Essex County, Virginia in 1692) on December 29, 1666. This purchase would indicate that the brothers were fairly prosperous and it is safe to assume that they, like most colonial landholders, were tobacco planters. They subsequently divided their land on December 19, 1674. In 1689, James purchased an additional 450 acres from Richard Dyson and in 1696 he bought 200 acres from his brother-in-law, Warwick Gray. Essex County records show that in 1715, James held 500 acres and his sons James Jr. and Mark, each held 225 acres. Clearly, James was a successful planter in his day. Sometime before July 20, 1673, James married Marjory Gray, daughter of William Gray. William Gray was a captain of a sailing vessel."
