Both James and Jane came to the America in 1768 from Tyrone County, Ireland with son William and daughter Margaret. There is a town called Fintona in Tyrone County.

The Finton's home was in Bucks Valley, then Greenwood Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, now Perry County and Buffalo Township. James was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. He served in Col. James Purdy's company and was a member of Philip Matthew's 3rd Division. He is listed as a wagoner in several records. James seems to have had a brother Samuel in that same Pennsylvania county, as old records mention Samuel Sr. and sons Michael Finton, Jeremiah, and Samuel Jr. James Finton's will is on file at Orphan's Court, Carlisle, PA.

Jane Haverstock, if the date of her death is correct, lived to be 124 years old. She is listed in the Census of 1830 as being 90 to 100, and again in the Census 1840 as being over a hundred.
