James Clarence "Jim" Griffin

Jmes (Jim) C. Griffin, 84, of Havana, Illinois passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois.
He was born on March 30, 1931 in Havana, Illinois to Clarence and Adelaide Griffin of Havana. He married Carla L. McClenning on January 24, 1954 in Havana where they resided for 61 years until her passing on November 17, 2012.
He is survived by his children, Greg of Havana, Lori (Mark) Kachanuk of Peoria, AZ, Lisa (David) Lippert of Chatham, IL and Gary of Havana, a sister, Marte Williams of Havana, his sister-in-law Kay Needham of Havana, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Carla, his parents and his brother Joe. He worked as an electrician for over 60 years. He started by working in his father’s business (Griffin Electric, Inc.) as a teenager and then later running the business. He was a Korean War Veteran United States Army. He was very activity in the community and involved in many organizations, served for 32 years on the Mason County Board and served as Board Chairman for several years, Mason County Board of Review, Mason County Board of Health for 9 years, Mason County Road and Bridge, United Collation of County Boards, United Counties Council for Illinois, The Illinois Community Action Association, Central Illinois Economic Development Corporation’s Corporate Board, Havana Rural Fire Department for 40 years, VFW, Havana Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Honoree and the Jaycees. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; he also enjoyed restoring and showing his antique cars.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Sue Roat will officiate. Following the funeral services cremation rites will be accorded and a private family burial will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Havana Area Volunteers Easter Egg Hunt or Havana Rural Fire Department.
