James S. Hart, Sr. married Mary E. Killmon, daughter of Ezekiel Killmon and Polly Parks on December 10, 1826 at Accomack County, VA. Mary was under age, so her father gave his consent. They were the parents of James H. Hart, Sr.
1850 Census records that James was head of household at St. George Parish, Accomack County, VA. 47 year old Farmer with real estate valued at $6,000 (maybe $600). Also listed were Mary, age 39; Sally, age 23; John, a 20 year old sailor; Mary A. age 18; James, age 15; Emaline, age 13; Melvina, age 11; Robert, age 8; Amanda, age 5 and Missouri, age 6-12 mos.
1860 Census records that James was listed as a resident of St. George Parish, Accomack County, VA.
Even though his death date and burial location is unknown; he apparently died before his wife Mary. The 1870 Census records Mary as Head of Household.
