About James Morrison of Londonderry (Charter)
DO NOT CONFUSE WITH (No Name)

All of the above convinces me that there was no connection between the PA and NH Morrisons. I do not believe that Charter James is the father of our North Carolina settlers. Nor do I believe that John Morrison and Jean or Janet Steele are the parents of our Immigrant James Morrison.” – Harvey Morrison (Line of Brother William of Morrison-Q)
The final, and possibly the most objective reason James is not the son of John Morrison & Janet Steele, is the DNA record. If you go to the Morrison Y-DNA Surname project website: https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/morrison/about under Group L, subgroup L1 Northern Ireland, there are two people stating they descend from John Morrison (b. ca 1628) to Londonderry NH. Son James; grandson Samuel. M157. The other is M178 John Morrison (b. ca 1628) Son Charter John Morrison of Londonderry, NH. Both are from Group L, we are Group Q – not blood kin to each other.

James was one of the earliest settlers and proprietors of Londonderry/Derry, NH to whom the charter was given in 1718, hence he was known as "Charter James."
He arrived in America in 1719.
p 81 - He married Mary Wallace, in Ireland, by whom he had two sons:
- Halbert (d. c. 1779)
- Samuel (1704-1776).
Mary died in Ireland, and James came to America where he married Jeanette Steele [same name as step-mother? - LJB] and had 5 children, all born in Londonderry, NH:
- Janet m. Samuel Steele
- Katreen (probably married a Mr. Tufts)
- John b. 8/16/1722 m. Elizabeth
- Thomas b. 5/15/1824 m. Mary
- James b. 9/24/1778
