John was one of the earliest settlers and proprietors of Londonderry/Derry, NH to whom the charter was given in 1718, hence he was known as "Charter John."
He arrived in America in 1719.

He married in Ireland Margaret Wallace. She died April 18, 1769. He died June 14, 1776, age 98.
