James Neal was a War of 1812 veteran.
He married Mary Ann Martin Dec. 24, 1811. His land was to the northeast of Bear Creek Cemetery and is now heavily forested. Some of his descendants resided in Cicero and Noblesville in Hamilton Co., Indiana. He is said to be buried here in an unmarked grave.
As far as it is known he is not related to the Neals who lived on Lanam Ridge in Brown Co. and at Payne Hollow in Monroe Co.
