James Roper

1. BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:

James Roper, (son of James Roper and Polly Roper Farwell) was b. 1808, bp on 21 Jan. 1808 in Chideock, Dorset,England. He m Sarah Snell, 15 Apr 1830, in Whitechurch Canonicorum,, Dorset, England, b. ,,Dorset, England. James was a farmer in Chideock and in Whitechurch Canonicorum. At the 1841 census, James 30 was a farmer in Ryall, in Whitechurch Canonicorum. He d. 1844 Whitechurch Canonicorum aged 36, bur. 11 May 1844, with m.i. in Chideock, Dorset, England. [Sarah married (2) William Henry Hopkins Hunt in Q4 of 1851 in St. Thomas, Devon; by 1861, they were living in Whitchurch Canonicorum, where William was an Inn Keeper in the Five Bells Inn.] James Roper and Sarah Snell had issue: four children detailed in this Geni tree plus at least three more who died in infancy or their early childhood: William (1835), William (1840) and Mary (1844).
