records for Drenthe no longer exist for the period in which Jan was born. We have the 1660 ships manifest of when his family emigrated to America but there is no way to know which of the children Jan was:

• Focke Jansz, farmer from Drenthe, wife and 7 children: 19, 17, 13, 11, 9, 3 yrs old, and nursing child As he marries 16 years later my guess would be Jan was the 9 year old. [Alex Moes]
