Page 154. Mutual partition made this 6th day of May 1689 between Roeloff Verkerck, Aert Verkerck, Barent Verkerck, and Jan Verkerck, sunns of Jan Verckerck, dec'd, that they are agreed together concerning the estate of their father as follows:Barent Verkerck and Jan Verkerck being the youngist' brother shall have the halve lengths of two lotts of land lying at New Uytrecht the neerist to the hills at the west side and stretching in length about 600 rodd. Northerly and Southerly as above said the right halve of the length to with 300 rodd, and they shall have two new lotts lying at New Uytrecht by the great pan betwicx the lot of Ruth Joosten and the lott of Gysbert Thyssen, and Jan Vandyck with the privilidge in the common wood for one lott signed in the presence of Aucke Janse, Johannes Van Ekelen. Recorded May 21, 1689.

JOHN VANKIRK OF FREEHOLD

John VANKIRK was born in Kings County, New York about 1664. In 1687 he took the Oath of Allegiance. He migrated to Freehold, Monmouth Co. NJ before 1703 when he bought land there from Richard SALTER (DB-1 p. 139). He died some time before the inventory of "John VANKIRK of Freehold" which was taken 28 Jan 1724. In his will (signed with his mark) written 10 Feb 1723, his wife is Alsey (Alice). The will was probated 3 Mar 1724 (WB-A p. 288). Executors were wife Alsey and sons Henry & John. Other children are not named. The will states "unto Alsey my wife, m y estate during her natural life and till all my young children shall become the age of 21 years." "After my wife's decease and after my said children shall be of age" the estate is to be sold. "My sons shall each have an equal share, my daughters a half portion." "My eldest son Hendrick shall receive an addl. £13. John is to pay his brothers and sisters, and to receive a deed."
