Jan van Horne (after 1480? - December 10 , 1540 ) was the fourth Count of Horne from 1531 to 1540.

He was a son of Count Jacob II van Horne and Johanna van Brugge, a daughter of Lodewijk van Gruuthuse .

As a younger son, he embarked on a church career, while his brother Jacob succeeded their father. Jan held the influential position of provost of the Chapter of Saint Lambert in Liège and appeared to be a candidate for the office of prince-bishop , position already filled by his uncle Johan van Horne .

When it turned out that his brother Jacob III would not produce an heir for the county of Horne from three successive marriages, and Jan had to take care of the succession, he left the clergy, with dispensation from 'Rome', and married Anna van Egmont, daughter of Floris van Egmont . She had previously been married to Joseph of Montmorency , by whom she had four children.

After his brother's death in Vercelli , he himself became Count of Horne, lord of Heusden , Altena and Weert . However, his marriage remained childless. With the permission of his feudal lord, the Prince-Bishop of Liège Cornelis van Bergen , he bequeathed the County of Horne to his wife's eldest son, Philip of Montmorency , by will .

Jan was born about 1480. He was the son of Jacob van Horne and Johanna van Brugge. He passed away in 1540.
