Nancy Martin, the daughter of Betsy/Elizabeth Ward and General Joseph Martin was born about 1778, Cherokee Nation East. She had only one husband, Michael HIldebrand. He had a second wife, Lucy Absher.. Nancy died in April, 1837, Cherokee Nation East. Nancy and :Michael were the parents of 12 children: Elizabeth, John, Jane, Margaret, Delilah, Eliza, Stephen, Rachel, Nancy, Joseph, Brice, and Mary.

Biography
Jane Hildebrand was born in the Cherokee Nation (East) in 1806. She was the daughter of Michael Hildebrand, a white man, and Nannie Martin, a Cherokee. She married Joseph Cookson, a white man, about 1825. The 1835 Cherokee census shows the family living on Okoa Creek (now Tennessee) next to her parents. [1] They were the parents of John, Nancy, Elizabeth, and Jane (died young). The family was Removed to Indian Territory and settled in the Illinois District. [2] Jane died in 1860 and is buried at the Greenleaf Cemetery, Tahlequah, Oklahoma. [3]
