  • FYI: As of 17 Feb 2024, William is not found in the FamilySearch repository. He's only found in secondary sources. Ammiel, Jane, and Joseph were christened in Seaton (aka Seaton and Beer), Devon – probably in St Gregory's Church or somewhere within the parish.
  • Three person-profiles have been detached with cause. None had primary sources Or two or more respected secondary sources to support them as children of George and Jane. The following detached profiles may be children of another Weeks father:—

——————————————————————————————

Admitted to the church of Dorchester, 1639. "The Early Settlers of New England" give her name as Jane and a sister of Roger Clap. Jane is descended from a prominent English line that was originally Danish.

Jane's second husband was Jonas Humphrey, who landed in Dorchester, New England in 1637.

Jane's will of November 29, 1666 was made as Jane Humphrey. In this, she lists children, grandchildren, and sisters. Since she did not marry Jonas Humphrey until sometime after 1666, it's probable that all of her children are of her first husband, George Weeks. The total number of children are not known, but those found from various sources are included.

It is clear from this will and signatures on other papers, that at least several others of the Clap family came to America in the early days.

Jane signed her will on November 11, 1666 (January 29, 1666/67). She signed with a mark even though her signatures was located by the author of the Genealogy Book of George Weeks. It is possible she was very sick at the time and died a short time thereafter. She was probably about 55 to 60 years old at the time of her death.
