About Jane LaBay

Jane Campbell was born in County Armagh, Ireland, a daughter of Robert Campbell & Anna McCullock. At age 16 she left Belfast, Ireland and emigrated to Canada to live with her sister JoAnn, Mrs. James Henderson.

She married Hubert Dessalier about 1845 in Megantic County, Province of Quebec, Canada.

They had 11 children: Joseph; Alex; Sarah; Robert; William; Peter; Mary Jane; Albert; Almon; Arnold; and Francis.

Hubert's name was later changed to Pierre "Peter" Labay. He died 31 Aug 1888 when they were living in South Dakota. He is buried in Pleasant View Cemetery in Arlington, Kingsbury County, South Dakota along with their son Robert LaBay (1853-1889).

Jane Campbell married Warren Pierce as her 2nd husband. He died before 1900 and she was living with her daughter Mary Jane & son-in-law John Donahue in Burke, Caledonia County, Vermont in the 1900 census.
