31 October 1562: John Maxuell in Faulis and Eufamia Steward, spouses, produced a charter containing precept whereby William Symple of Cathcart, and Jonet Mungumry, charged John Mure in Cathcart, as bailie in hac parte, to give them sasine of an annualrent of 11 merks Scots payable furth of a merk land of old extent called Brigholm of Cathcart, with pertinents, occupied by John Anderson, lying in the barony of Cathcart and shire of Renfrew, Charter subscribed by William Symple, and by a notary on behalf of Jonet Mungumry, because she could not write, at Glasgow, on 30 October 1562, in presence of John Stewart of Bowhou, George Govane of Manys, William Hegait, notary, Archibald Lyon, bailie, and John Thomsoun, junior. Sasine given on the ground of the lands in terms of the precept. Witnesses: John Michell, Thomas Maxuell, John Mxuell, brothers, dwelling in Langsyde, and John Steward in Bowhous. 1 August 1572: William Symple of Cathcart and Jonet Mungumry, his spouse, gave sasine propriis manibus to Gabriel Symple, their eldest son and apparent heir, and Margaret Spreull, his spouse, and l. l., of the 13s. 4d. land, old extent, called Brigholm of Cathcart, occupied by John Andersoun, lying in the barony and parish of Cathcart and shire of Renfrew, and that conform to the tenor of a charter. Reserving the liferent of the granters. Witnesses: Thomas Spreull of Coldoun, Thomas Spreull, his son, George Allan, John Symple, son of the said William.
