Jeanie Hampton Sneddon was born 30 September 1881 in Airdrie Burgh, North Lanarkshire, daughter of George and Helen (Kean) Sneddon. In her Sneddon family, she is sister of George, James, Nellie, William, Francis, Lillian and Bella Sneddon. She became known as "Jean".
On December 31, 1900, she married John Semple at Little Struther, Dalserf, Lanark, Scotland. The children of their Semple family are Henry (1901); Helen (1904) and George Sneddon (1908) Semple. Later in life, she became affectionately known as "Granny" or "Granny Jean".
On 26 February 1959, Jeanie Semple, aged 77 years, died at Larkhall, South Lanarkshire with interment in Stonehouse Cemetery, Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, UK.
