Born Kanawha Co., W.Va., 20 Sep. 1845. Age 16, Calhoun County 1860 Census. Not on muster rolls. Clothing issued 19 Feb. 1864, 30 Apr. 1864, 21 May 1864, and 17 June 1864. Signs by X. Captured Parkersburg, W.Va., no date given, listed as a Sergeant. Confined in the Post guard house, Clarksburg, W.Va. Paroled 22 Apr. 1865. Description, age 26 (?), 5' 9", fair complexion, yellow hair, and blue eyes. Occupation, farmer, residing in Calhoun County, W.Va. . Brother of Peter and Thomas Starcher. Died 14 Aug. 1874.
