According to http://www.ancestry.com, a Jesse Arledge is referenced three times in Tennessee, The Volunteer State, 1769-1923, Vol. 1. [p. 559, footnote] He was on a legislative committee, composed of John H. Savage, G. W. Martin, Jesse Arledge, W. E. Travis, and Lewis Sheppard, who conferred with a committee of the bondholders. (1877)
There was also another (older) Jesse Arledge, son of Clement & Martha Ginn Arledge, living in Tennessee. It was probably the older Jesse who was HOH--as ALDRIDGE-- in the 1850 Shelby Co, TN census.

From Jo Askew's interview with Ruth Ell (Clack) Yarborough:
Jesse Lucious Paraphrastus was Rosa (Rosannah) Nunnelly's gardener. Ruth Ell told us that Rosannah Nunnelly had taken her maiden name back after the death of her first husband, Robt. Skelton.
From Jo Askew:
1925 March 20 (Friday) A letter to William Henry Arledge from E. E. York, Superintendant of Oddfellows Home in Clarksville, TN. was addressed to William Henry "Buck" Arledge at 1611 Hubert St., Dallas, TX.
It read: "Regret to advise you that your mother, Mrs. Rose Arledge, passed away Friday, March 20, 1925. She was buried in our home cemetery. Did not wire you of her death as I knew it would probably be impossible for you to come. She died of the infirmities of years. We gave her all the medical attention and nursing that could be rendered to one of her age. I am enclosing her obituary. With kindest wishes I remain yours truly, E. E. York, Supt."
Published March 23, 1925. I (Jo Askew) believe it was published in a Clarksville, TN. newspaper. Her obituary read as follows:
"Mrs. Rose Arledge, member of Oddfellows Home family died March 20, 1925 at 5 PM. She had been in failing health for some weeks and her death was expected. Her death was due to infirmities of old age. She was born in Missouri on April 22, 1841 and was the daughter of William and Martha Nunnelly. She was the wife of J. L. Arledge, deceased several years ago, who held his membership with McMinnville, TN. Lodge I.O.O.F. #146. She was admitted to the Oddfellows Home on November 6, 1919. She held her membership with the Christian church. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. E.H. Ashley, Somerset, KY., two sons, W.H. and J.L., living in TX. and Idaho and a sister, Mrs. Callie Gilliland, of Nashville, TN., besides the home family to mourn her loss. She was of quiet disposition and expressed herself many times as being pleased with her residence and treatment as a member of the home. She will be buried in the Home cemetery Sunday at 2 PM. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. P.M. Baber, Pastor of First Christian church, Clarksville, TN."
From Jo Askew: Another obit - this one I received from Janice (Mrs. E.K. Arledge), of Richardson, TX. on Oct. 23, 1993 read as follows:
"Mrs. Arledge, 83, DIES AT THE HOME. BELOVED MEMBER OF THE I.O.O.F. FAMILY WILL BE BURIED TODAY. Services for Mrs. Rose Arledge, 83 years of age, a member of the family of the Tennessee I.O.O.F Home in New Providence whose death occurred at 5 o'clock Friday afternoon, will be conducted at the Home at 2 o'clock this afternoon by the Rev. P.M. Baber, of the First christian church, and interment will be made in the Home cemetery. Mrs. Arledge's condition had been critical several weeks and her death was expected. Mrs. Arledge who has been in the home since November 6, 1919 was the widow of J.L. Arledge, of McMinnville, Tenn. and came to the Institution from the McMinnville Lodge shortly after her husband's death. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. E.H. Ashley, of Somerset, KY, two sons, W.H. and J.L. Arledge, living in Idaho and Texas, respectively and a sister, Mrs. Callie Gilliland, of Nashville. Mrs. Arledge had expressed herself many times as being pleased with her residence and treatment in the home. [????n] pleasant quiet disposition, she had endeared herself to every member of the family. Mrs. Arledge was born April 22, 1841 [ ?? ] Missouri, a daughter of William and Martha Nunnley. She had for many years been a member of the Christian Church, and was a most consecrated Christian character."
From Jo Askew: On Rose (or Rosa) Nunnelly's son, Wm. Henry Arledge's death cert. it gives Tenn as the birthplace of Rose (or Rosa). However, the above-mentioned Missouri seems more likely to be correct. I imagine Wm. Henry's daughter, Rannie Wolff, just assumed that her grandmother was born in Tenn since that's where her father came from when she gave the information for the death certificate.
We know that Mrs. E.H. Ashley was Mrs. Ed Ashley.
We know that W.H. Arledge lived in Texas so J.L. Arledge must have been the one who lived in Idaho.
I have a 1910 Wichita Falls, Texas city directory entry that shows J. Lee Arledge in Wichita Falls, Texas at the same time Edd Arledge and his new wife, Kate, lived there. Edd and Kate were my Dad (Howard)'s parents. I feel that J. Lee Arledge mentioned in the Wichita Falls, TX city dir. was probably Wm. Henry's brother. He probably went to Idaho after being in Texas. Was he was called Leander J. Arledge in earlier years.
