He's an immigrant ancestor from a region in Southern Germany know as the Palatine; came to this country because of unbearable living conditions and religious persecution. In the spring of 1743, booked passage on boat sailing up the Rhine River to Holland. Sailed from Rotterdam, Holland to US by way of Cowes, England. Obtained a sponsor in return for working off the cost of passage upon arrival in Philadelphia. Sailed on the ship, "Loyal Judith," under James Coney Master.

Surry County. will abstracts I. 4. Will of Frederick FISHCUS, 65 years old. 13 Jan. 1772. Son Frederick gets home plantation of 128 acres on Mill Creek adjacent to Michael Howser and John Shore and livestock. Wife - Eve Fishcus. Son Adam Fishcus and Daughter Eve Fishcus get proceeds when of age. Children from my first wife: not named. Executor: Michael Houser. Testator signs in German as do two witnesses. Third witness is Henry Spenhour. Proved by Spenhour August Court 1772. Michael Houser qualified.

The first wife was apparently Anna Elisabeth Schwind, and she was the mother of Anna Cunigunda Fiscus (born 1734) who married Michael Hauser.

He is an immigrant ancestor who was a passenger on the Loyal Judith in Sept. 1743, and that he married 1) Anna Elisabeth Schwind between 1723 and 1729 in Germany and 2) Eva Maria ?? 1758 in Maryland.

Probably born near Engelstatt or Woeffsheim, Germany, 7 kilometers from Ober Saulheim.
