Hi Y,

My mom contacted Aunty Thelma Gouws (my dad's sister) about the birth place of JPJ Brooks, who has a memory of note. The reply was as follows :

"Aunty Thel and your Dad say j j was born in Zeerust. Aunty Thel says she has papers in Marcus garage concerning a funeral and the coffin bearers and she will try and find it and will let me know. The funeral must have been of a family member. She asks if anyone has been able to trace the ship that brought W H E Brooks and family over from England? She says they landed in South West or maybe in Angola.!!!! So many suppositions."

It may well be that James Joseph, being the elder of the brothers, was born elsewhere as Edgar and Bazil report as being in Rhodesia. As far as JPJ goes, his children seem to be unanimous in their opinion that JPJ was born in Zeerust.
