John Baldwin MAY have been born 19 Feb 1614/15, the second son and fourth child of Richard Baldwin and Phillippa Cockman, at Aston Clinton, Bucks., England. Ref. Aston Clinton Register of Births, Marriages and Burials 1560-1722 (Located in the CRO, Aylesbury, Bucks., England.): "1614/5 John ye sonne of Richard Baldwin Bapt. Februarie 19th."

John Baldwin came to American in July, 1635 on the ship "The Pied Cow", with his brother William and possibly a brother Henry. John and Henry were early settlers of Woburn, Massachusetts. John moved to Billerica, Mass. in 1655/57. He lived on the west side of Long Street, north of Jonathan Danforth's house. He was a member of James Paterson's Garrison #6, in 1675.

Will of John Baldwin

In THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I, John Baldwin of Billerica in the county of Middlesex in the Masatusets Colony in New England husbandman, being weak of body but of sound and perfect memory, do make and ordaine this wrighting my last will and testament, and do hearby disalow and disanull al other wils by me formerly made at ane time, and first of do give my body to the earth to be desently buryed and my Soule to god that gave it to me, in hopes of a gloryus resurection to life againe thurow Jese Christ my lord and only Saviour, and after my just debts ar payed and funeral charges discharged and cleared, my will is that the rest of my temperal estate be desposed of as foloweth: Imprimus I do give unto Mary my now Maryed wife the west end of my now dwelling hous and half the orchard adjoyning thereto during the time of her widowhood, and the best bed being a featherbed with the furneture thereof and fifteen pounds more of my movable estate to be her own despose & to give and bequeath the same to whome shee shal see meet Item I do give unto my son John Baldwin the east end of my dwelling hous and the other half of my orchard and two thirds of my homstedd with halfe my barne and out housing to him and his heirs for ever and I do also give unto my wife Mary aforsd the ofther halfe of my barn of out housing and the other third part of my homested dureing the time of her widowhood, and there after my wife shall marry or deceas the whol of the homsted being forty too acres more or less with the housing and fences I do give to my son John to him and his heirs for ever, also I do give unto my wife aforsd three acres of Medow on the norwest side of shawahiin River and one acre at content to be for her uuse dureing the time of her widowhood, and then the sd three acres of Medow att shawshin aforementioned is to be my son Johns to him and his heirs for ever and halfe my medow at the medow called Andever medow in billerica bounds and three acres and a quarter and forteen poles of Medowland at a place called Mill Swamp these to him & his heirs for ever, Item I do give unto my son Jonathon Baldwin al my Medow at Ceder Cove In billerica bounds neer Woobourne Town line being by estemation eaight acres of Medow and swamp beit more or less to him & his heirs fo ever as also one pair of oxen or the value of them in land where it may be convenient for him in sted of the sd oxen, this legesie to be payed by my executers when my sd son Jonathan shall com at the age of twenty and one years Itum I do give unto my son Thomas Baldwin ffty acres in the second devysion together with eaigh acres of gratuety at a place called Content and al my medow at Content medow being about six acres, excepting one acre given to my wife as aforsd and then to return to my sonThomas and the other halfe of my medow ao Andever Medow to him and his heirs for ever Itum I do give al my priveledg of Towne-right in billerica to be equaly devided

   between my son John and my son Thomas aforsd to be for then and their heirs for ever. Itum I do give unto my daughter Mary Jefts eaight pounds more besids that  eaight pounds which shee hath had alredy: this other eaight pounds is to be payed her within two uears after my deceas Itum I do give unto my daughter Susana Baldwin sixteen pounds to be payed her the one half the day of Marriage and the other halfe within two years after Itum I do give unto my daughter Phebe Baldwin sixteen pounds to be payed her one halfe at day of Marriage and the other halfe two years after also my will is that these legesies be payed to my daughters in currant country paye att currant price and not as mony except my executers pleas also my will is that in case any of aforsd daughters shall com to the age of eaithteen years and shal stand in need of their portions (;in case of sickness or the like) then it shall be payed them as they need it, but if they Marry then to be payed as abovsd and in case any of my aforsd children dye afore they com at foll age to receive their portians then the same shal be equaly devided amongest those of them that do sirvive only my will is that in case any of my daughters live to the age of eaighteen years they shal have liberty to despose of their sixteen pounds apeics when they com to dye whether they are marryed or not finally my will is that my loveing wife Mary aforsd and my son John Baldwin shall be joyntexecuters to   fullfill and acomplesh al and every perteculers hearin spefefyed in this my last will and testement and I do Hartely desire and humbley Intreat my trusty and wellbeloved friends Leiut Joseph Tompson and Ens. Ralph Hill to be overseers of this my said will:
