About John George Brosius
A Patriot of the American Revolution for PENNSYLVANIA with the rank of PRIVATE. DAR Ancestor A015131
During the Revolutionary War, Johan George held the rank of private.[1] Charles Fisher Snyder writes in SNYDER COUNTY PIONEERS: "Seems to have been the son of Nicholas Brosius, Sr., of Mahanoy Township and a brother of Nicholas, Jr. If he did not live in Penn Township, he at least served with those who did. In 1781, and thereafter, he was assessed with 50 acres and personal property in Mahanoy Township of Northumberland Co. At one time he was a private in Captain William Weirack's Company of the Northumberland County Militia, and on January 30, 1777 he was a member of Captain Benjamin Weiser's Company of the German Regiment."
