3. John Cooke alias Carewe (Humphrey), of Westhorpe, co. Suffolk, born about 1515, died after 1565-6 and probably before 1576.

He married at Westhorpe, 8 May 1540, Alice Carter, daughter of John.

Children, baptized at Westhorpe:

• i. Katherine, bapt. 12 Feb. 1540/1; bur. at Finningham, co. Suffolk, 30 Mar. 1598; m. at Westhorpe, 12 Oct. 1567, John Clarke of Finningham. Seven children, for whom see the Clarke pedigree, supra, 2.
• ii. Joan, bapt. 22 Aug. 1543; m. at Westhorpe, 26 Sept. 1564, Nicholas Preston.
• iii. Mary, bapt. 21 Jan. 1546/7; m. at Westhorpe, 31 May 1569, Robert POolAM.
• iv. William, bapt. 26 Sept. 1552; bur. at Westhorpe 23 Oct. 1552.
• v. John, bapt. 26 Jan. 1553/4; bur. at Westhorpe 13 Aug. 1559.

NEHGR: John Cooke, alias Carew of Westhorpe, Suffolk. Born about 1515. Died after 1565-6 and probably before 1576. Married Alice Carter at Westhorpe 8 May 1540. As John Coke alias Carewe, he, with his wife Alice and others sold lands in Westhorpe and Walsham, Suffolk, in 1543, to Robert Harte. In the second assessment of the subsidy of 1545-6, he--as John Coke--was taxed for goods at Westhorpe with his father, Humphrey Coke. In the subsidy of 1565-6 he was taxed at Westhorpe for goods as John Cooke.

Witter Family: John Cooke, alias Carew, born about 1515. Died between 1565 and 1576 at Westhorpe, Suffolk. Married Alice Carter 8 May 1540 at Westhorpe, Suffolk.

As John Coke, alias Carewe he, with his wife Alice and others, sold lands in Westhorpe and Walsham, co. Suffolk, in 1543, to Robert Harte.
