John Gates, b. 27 Jan 1728; d. unmarried in Worcester, MA, 2 April 1763 (gravestone).
He was one of the soldiers who marched on the alarm for the relief of Ft. William Henry in August 1757. (Massachusetts Archives, Muster Rolls, vol. 95, p. 495).
He left a will dated 16 March 1763, in which he mentions his brothers Simon, Stephen, Samuel, Silas, and Solomon, who was deceased; sisters Sarah Church and Susannah Phelps.
