About John Hamilton, of Tullyreny and Monea
John Hamilton, born at the latest in the beginning of the 1610’s (a son of his was born 1635), captain in English service. Two sons came to Sweden and they each have a descendant who has done a Y-DNA test, both belonging to haplogroup R1b1a2 (R-M269). All now living barons and baronesses Hamilton af Hageby and counts and countesses Hamiltons are their descendants. The DNA tests prove this branch to belong to another biological line than the Cadzow and Dalserf Hamiltons. The Cadzow Hamiltons belonged to I1a3a (I-L1237) from Sir James Hamilton, 5th of Cadzow (c. 1390–c. 1440). His father was not his biological father; the older Cadzow Hamiltons are instead circled in belonging to I1a2a1a1 (I-L338) from William Fitzgilbert de Hamilton who received Dalserf 1314/15. Sources:

John var kapten i engelska armén och gift med Janet Sommerville of Comnethon. Hennes mor hette Elisabeth Hamilton of Broomhill vars rötter såväl på färdenet som mödrnet kan härledas till Walter Fitz-Gilbert de Hamildone
