John Henry Hamlett

John Henry Hamlett born February 13, 1874 near Wood, Iowa.. Died June 26, 1957. John first married Mamie I. Dodds on March 2, 1896 at Wood, Iowa. Mamie was the daughter of Bert and Sarah (Combs) Dodds. She was born in 1876 and died in 1900. ( not sure, but I think died of typhoid fever ) They had 2 children, Carl and Mamie Marie.

John then married Blanche J. Beddow (  1886-1938 ) March 15, 1905.   John and Blanche had 2 children Nona and Lee B.  John went with his parents to Nebraska as a young man in 1886, remained a few years and then returned to Clayton county, Iowa and bought a farm adjoining his grandfather Davids old home place in Elk Township, Clayton County, Iowa near Wood, Iowa. He operated this farm until he retired and move into Edgewood, Iowa. He later sold his farm to his brother Joseph.

The photo shows John Henry Hamlett with his first two born children with Mamie Dodds Hamlett. The son is Robert Donald ( also may be know as Rob, Curt, Robyn, Robin I have seen several variations on his name and I will try and get the correct one). and the daughter is Marie Mamie Hamlett Kuhlman
