HEBER CITY. - John James Cummings, 83, prominent sheep and cattle raiser, one of the very first settlers of Heber City, died of general debility, following influenza, at his home in Heber City Thursday. He was ill about four months.
Mr. Cummings was born in Montrose, Iowa, March 25,1846, and came to Provo in 1852 and to Heber City in 1862. He was always active in church and city affairs.
Mr. Cummings was married at Heber City. February 27, 1865, to Sophia Johnson, who died forty years ago. Ten children were born to them, seven of whom survive as follows: John G.. Joseph W., Harmon, Alma. Lyman and Mrs. May Lloyd of Heber City; Mrs. Myrtle Austin of Lehi.
He was married a second time. May 7 1890, at Logan, Utah, to Lenora Duke. Nine children were born to this union, seven of whom, with their mother, survive as follows: Mrs. Jetta Austin of Lehi; Wade, Sadie, Nellie and Mrs. Grace DIckson of Heber City; Mrs. Lita Kimber of Los Angeles. Calif., and Mrs. Birdie Green of American Fork. Forty-four grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren are living.
Funeral services will be held in the Wasatch stake tabernacle Sunday at 1 p. m. Interment will be in the Heber City cemetery-
