"John Jarman was buried the 14th day of the 12th month 1697 (not Dec 14, 1697). The modern reckoning of that date would be 14 Feb 1698. See Julian calendar in use by England and her colonies (and most assuredly by Friends Society) until Sept 1752. See also Penn's Great Laws adopted in 1682 at Chester where the "1st month of the year shall be called March". His wife Margaret died on the 26th day of the 10th month of 1740; the modern reckoning of that date would be 26 Dec 1740; she was buried on the 28th as recorded in Radnor Meeting Minutes." information courtesy find a grave member #47345651

The village of Llangurig sits on the banks of the River Wye between Rhayader and Llanidloes in Powys, Mid Wales. It is believed to be the highest village in Wales, with an altitude of 1000 feet, and is surrounded by charming scenery and backed by the rolling hills of the Plumlumon range. And surprisingly the euphemistically described rolling hills do nothing to deter the many cyclists and walkers who take either the Wales Cycle Route, Lon Las Cymru, or the Wye Valley Walk that winds its way through Llangurig on its long journey through both Wales and England to the mouth of the Wye on the Bristol Channel.

Should you be travelling from north to south Wales on the A470 then a short diversion, no more than a few hundred yards at the junction with the A44, brings you to the delightful little village.

The original Llangurig Parish Church dates back to circa 550 AD and was founded either by St Curig himself or in commemoration of the Saint. The present building dates from the 15th century and stained glass windows adorn the building.
