U.S., Quaker Meeting Records, 1681-1935 shows date of death as 26 of 10th month 1740 and burial on 28 of 10th month 1740 at Radnor Friends Burial Ground. [see notes below]

Friends of the Quarterly Meeting at Philadelphia: The Accounts of the Decease of Sundry Publick Friends & Elders who belonged to Haverford Monthly Meeting and Dyed since the Year 1720 are as follows:

"Our Friend Margaret Jerman Widow, after the Death of her Husband John Jerman it Pleased the Lord to convern her in the Ministry wherein she faithfully Laboured in great Tenderness according to the Ability given, Zealous for truth, a Wellwisher for the good of all. She dyed the 26th of the 10th month 1740 was buried the 28th of the same month at Friends Burying ground at Radnor."

It should be noted that prior to Sept 1752 England and her colonies used the Julian calendar. Per Act of Parliament in 1751 the change to the Gregorian (our current use) was declared. Many of the Quaker records reflect this date change around this time in their respective minutes. The 1st month was March, the 11th and 12th months were Jan and Feb of the following year, creating the system of double dating the year. The numerical to nominal date of "26th of the 10th month 1740" = 26 Dec 1740. See also Penn's Great Laws, adopted at Upland on 10mo (Dec) 7, 1682: "XL. The days of the week and the months of the year shall be called as in Scripture, and not by heathen names (as are vulgarly used), as the first, second, and third days of the week, and first, second, and third months of the year, etc., beginning with the day called Sunday, and the month called March."

NOTE: The tombstones of John and Margaret Jarman no longer exist, but they are believed to have been buried here where the original Society of Friends Meeting House once stood. The original Meeting House where John Jarman and his family once attended church was built in 1686, but no longer exists. The second (current) Meeting house was built in 1721.
