About John Kenyon

This John Kenyon is designated at #11 in the American Kenyon book. it was first thought that he was born in Lancashire, England but now it is believed that he was born in Rhode Island.

John Kenyon Jr. and Elizabeth Remington were married by Thomas Mumford in North Kingstown, Washington, Rhode Island. (Arnold's Vol 5, p. 30)

Pages 43-45 - John Kinyon of Kingstown, yeoman and Elizabeth Kinyon my wife formerly Elizabeth Remington, daughter of John Remington of Kingstown, deceased to Henry Gardner of Kingstown, yeoman - one fifth part of a certain tract of land in Kingstown containing 250 acres bounded west on Sacatucket River, south on land of Thomas Mumford, north on land of Henry Gardner and William Gardner, and est on the fresh meadow, said land being the fifth part of the farm which was formerly the estate of the said John Remington, deceased. Dated 25 Nov 1718, acknowledged (date not specified), recorded 26 Nov 1718. Witnesses: John Gardner and Francis Willett.

John KENYON was a Bridge Builder and it was said he was killed by a "binder" on a log while crossing Wood River. He and his wife Elizabeth were buried in Wood River Church, English fashion, and when the church was repaired they were taken up and buried in the Wood River Cem. (Old part given by Enoch Card- the south part) southwest of the church in southwest corner of the lot, on a knoll by themselves-near the present turnpike.
