He immigrated to Ellis Island, New York City, New York, United States in 1920 and lived in Rygge, Østfold, Norway in 1865 and Greenbush Township, Mille Lacs, Minnesota, United States in 1905. He died on 12 October 1935, in Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota, United States, at the age of 80, and was buried in Crystal Lake Cemetery, Minneapolis,
