About John Clarence Lane, II
JOHN CLARENCE LANE, brother of former Governor William Preston Lane, Jr., died suddenly of a coronary occlusion at the Wilmington Hospital, Wilmington, Del., yesterday. He was 68 years of age.
He was a former member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Hagerstown, joining St. Andrew's Episcopal Church when he moved to Wilmington. He was a World War I veteran and was a member of the graduating class of 1912 of West Point. Mr. Lane was an engineer by profession and engaged in that field throughout his adult life.
Surviving are: wife, Margaret McGowen Lane; daughters, Mrs. Louis Scheu, Fairfax, Del.; Mrs. Gerald Browning, Wildwood, NJ.; and Mrs. Francis Kirk, Chaddsford, Pa.; brothers, William Preston Lane, Jr., Hagerstown; and Samuel Maddox Lane, Washington, D.C.; sister, Mrs. James Gambrill, Frederick; 10 grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church; graveside services were conducted at Rose Hill Cemetery.
