John Kilby Owens

This is Stephanie Lynn Jackson Czadzeck White. John Kilby Owens was my great-grandfather. I remember playing on his front porch and fishing in his fish pond when I was very young, as a matter of fact those are some of my earliest memories. He had a white house, which is still standing today (2010) and a beautiful fish pond that had lush green grass all around it. He was always very kind, my mother (his grand-daughter) Sheilah and he were very close. He loved her very much. He had a nickname for her, he always called her Cheat. I'm still now sure how that came about.

When he died it broke my mother's heart. His funeral is one of the most vivid memories I have, I was born in 1974 & he passed away in 1980, Grundy Funeral Home was full. He was a well respected and loved member of the community.
