MEMORIAL PHOTOS 0 FLOWERS 0 While Jay Guy Cisco's 1909 'Parker Family' story found in 'Historic Sumner County, Tennessee' states Nathaniel Parker (1724-1811) son John never came to Tennessee, a 1904 letter found on page 482 of Parker in America states that 'John, son of Nathaniel, lived in Shelbyville, KY.' (Shelbyville, is the county seat of Shelby Co. KY.) Nathaniel Parkers son John being in Shelby Co. KY. is reinforced by an 1851 letter by Ohio Supreme Court Justice Thomas Scott wherein he stated: "(Betsy) Elizabeth (Parker) intermarried with Col. Michael Collyer (Collier) and John (Parker) with Miss Sally Collier, grand-son and grand-daughter of old Col. Thomas Cresap. These two families many years since removed and settled in Shelby County, Kentucky." An Executor's bond was filed on the 20th February 1831 Shelby County, Kentucky court.

This John Parker is often confused with two other John Parker's:

One who was born in 1755 and died in 1801 King & Queen County, VA. The King & Queen Co. VA. was fathering children continually in King & Queen Co. VA. between 1774 and 1801. John the son of Nathaniel Parker (1724-1811) is referenced in a 1790 Hampshire Co. VA. tax list as 'John, son of Nathaniel; his brother Aaron Parkers 1804 Sumner, TN will; his fathers 1811 Sumner, TN will, in the 1812 Sumner, TN. estate inventory, in 1814 & 1816 Sumner, TN. settlement of the estate land indentures.

And the Elder John Parker (1758-1836) was in Tennessee from 1803 to 1817. The Elder John Parker belongs to Parker yDNA Family Group #5, while the John Parker in this profile, his father Nathaniel Parker (1724-1811), and his grandfather John Parker who died in 1760 Hampshire Co. VA. belong to Parker yDNA Family Group #18.

Not a known child of John Parker

Additionally the birth year for the John Parker 1755-1836 listed as John Parker 1700-1760's son, is for the John Parker who died in 1801 King & Queen Co., VA, while the death date is for the John Parker born 1758 Baltimore Co., MD and died in an Indian massacre at old Ft. Parker, Texas on the 19 May 1836. That one is commonly referred to as 'The Elder' John Parker as he was a minister. So that profile is a mix of two separate John Parker's.
