About John Otto Plender
John Otto Plender, 25 son of Andrew Plender of Orange City passed away on Saturday at 1 p.m. July 31 after a lingering illness with heart trouble.
He was born on September 22, 1917 at Boyden and was married on November 14, 1938 to Miss Elizabeth Vande Griend of Orange City.
Surviving him are his widow and 2 small sons Merlyn Andrew and Norman Jay.
A baby, Audley Dean, died in January of this year.
Surviving also are his father Andrew Plender of Orange City, 7 sisters and 1 brother; Margaret – Mrs. Henry De Haan, Mina – Mrs. Frank Muilenburg, Henrietta - Mrs. Wm. Ter Horst Orange City, Henry Plender of Alton, Arabelle -Mrs. Joe Kleinhesselink of Orange City, Ruth - Mrs. Frank Vander Maaten of Alton and the Misses Mathilda and Bernice Plender at home.
Preceding him in death were his mother, who passed away 4 yrs. ago, a brother, Lambertus 14 who died 18 yrs. ago, a brother John Otto 2 yrs. old, who died on the day the decedent was born and an infant brother of 3 months who died 34 yrs. ago.
Funeral services were held Monday at 1 p. m. at the home of Andrew Plender and at 1:30 p. m. at the First Ref. Church with Rev. H. Colenbrander officiating. Interment was made in the local cemetery.
