About Wilhelmina Plender
Mrs. Andrew Plender, nee Wilhelmina Mouw, passed away at her home in the Alton vicinity on Monday, October 10, 1938, at the age of 55 years, after a lingering illness of five years.
She was born on a farm north of Orange City on October 18, 1883 and grew up to womanhood in this community. On June 22, 1904 she was united in marriage to Andrew Plender. Thirteen children were born to this union, four sons preceding her in death, two in infancy, one at the age of two years and one at the age of 14 years.
Surviving are the following children, Margaret, Mrs. H. De Haan; Mina, Mrs. F. Muilenbug; Henrietta, Mrs. Wm. Ter Horst; Henry, John Arabella, Matilda, Ruth, Bernice, and also eight grandchildren who with their father mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother.
She is also survived by two brothers and five sisters; Mrs. Ed Vellinga, Mrs. Geo. Korver, Mrs. Martin Korver, Otto Mouw, Mrs. J.J. Kleinhesselink, Mrs. P.M. Van Peursem, and John H. Mouw. On sister, Matilda, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 12:30 at the home and at 1:30 at the First Reformed Church of which she was a member. The Rev. Mr. H. Colenbrander officiated. Interment was made at the Orange City Cemetery.
