John Renk, 57, Plumber, Dies
John Renk, 57, 671 Grand street, a partner in the Sanitary Plumbing & Heating Company, died at 6:45 p. m. Sunday at the Winona General hospital. He had been ill since August.
Mr. Renk was born here October 8, 1894, and had lived here all his life. He was a member of St. Joseph's society of St. Joseph's Church, Of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the 40 et 8, the Winona Athletic club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Elaine E. Renk, Winona; two brothers, Bernard Renk and Joseph Renk, Winona, and three sisters, Mrs. J. W. Johnson and Mrs. Edward Vondrashek, Winona, and Mrs. John Berghammer, Rochester.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's church, the Rt. Rev. Joseph F. Hale officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, where the American Legion will conduct military services. Friends may call Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Burke funeral home. Monsignor Hale and the St. Joseph's society will say the rosary at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

JOHN RENK IS IN GERMANY Priv. John M. Renk, now with the American army of occupation in Luxemburg, has written an interesting letter to his former employer, H. A. Hengel, Winona plumber. He declares that his outfit reached Luxemburg after being on the road 14 days. They hiked 10 days and covered 135 miles. He is a member of Co. C, 123rd Machine Gun Battalion. The Winonan received his baptism of fire at Verdun and remained on active service at the front until the armistice was signed. Fortunately Priv. Renk escaped Injury and has not been sick since he entered military service. He expects to return home by Easter.
