John Roberton of Earnock is the son of John Roberton, Sheriff-Clerk of Lanark, and the grandson of Batholomew Roberton of Earnock. He was served heir to his deceased grandfather on 22 September 1643 [Inquisitionum Ad Capellam Domini Regis Retornatarum, etc. ii, number 213] and heir to his deceased father on 23 September 1643. John Roberton of Earnock is reported to have married married Bethia, daughter of Sir John Henderson, of Fordell, in Fifeshire, by whom he is said to have had a son named John, his heir, and a daughter named Christian, who married to Archibdald Roberton of Bedlay Earnock and its early proprietors: Roberton Genealogy This suggestion is confirmed by a sasine which belongs to the period 1660-63 [National Archives of Scotland, H.M.
