John Stratton married Alice Pigott at Great Barford, Bedfordshire on 1 Jul 1577. Alice (Pigott) Stratton was buried on 11 Nov 1626 in Podington, Bedfordshire.[4]
Their Children (order uncertain):[2]
John Stratton of Hinwick in the parish of Podrington, Bedfordshire, made his will on 3 June 1627; it was proved on 23 August 1627.
His will is located in the Beds. Record Office, ABP/W 1627/195 (original will), and in the Family History Library, Salt Lake City, film #88,023.
Samuel Stratton was named in his father's will; John Stratton of Hinwick. His father was buried August 2, 1627, and his mother November 18, 1626.

Some websites claim that John Stratton was the son of Christopher Stratton and Joan (Drake) Stratton. There appears to be no evidence to support this supposition, which would require a jump from one county to another (so what's the difference between that and a jump from Norfolk to Bedfordshire!). Furthermore, such a parentage would give John a medieval lineage that is not recognized by professional genealogists. But John the son of Christopher and Joan was only born in 1572, too young to be the John Stratton who married Alice Pigott in Gt Barford, Beds on 1 Jul 1577.
Nothing is known of him before his marriage in 1577. The baptism in Norwich or Wellingborough in 1572 can't be him, his birth would be probably before 1556 to be aged about 21 at marriage.
He married Alice Pigott at Great Barford, Bedfordshire on 1 Jul 1577.[1]. Other than the names being the same, there's no evidence linking the Gt Barford marriage to the Strattons in Podington, 18 miles away. The Gt Barford couple appear to have baptised two children in Gt Barford; Thomas on 1 Sep 1577 and Amy on 17 May 1579, although parents' names aren't shown.[2] (Gt Barford baptism register is missing 1583-91). BUT these are the only Stratton entries in Gt Barford, which makes it quite possible/likely even, that they moved to Podington after 1579. Unfortunately Podington records don't start until 1602. Note that neither of two TAG articles describing the parents of Samuel, the emigrant, name his wife as anything but "Alice ____."[3][4]
