Source: 'The von Buchenröder Family - 200 Years in South Africa' by William G von Buchenröder 17 Jan 2005 Born c.1825, and grew up on the farm 'Perseverance'. Also called Jan Willem by the predominantly Afrikaans speaking community and 'Groot-Oupa Jan' by the family. Transport operator, moving goods to supply the ever-moving population bu ox-wagon.
