Biography

John Weston was born 9 March 1661 in Reading, Middlesex County, Massachusetts to John Weston (1631-1723) and Sarah Fitch (1635-1698) and died 19 August 1719 in Reading, Middlesex County, Massachusetts of unspecified causes. He married Mary Bryant (1666-1725) 26 November 1684 in Reading, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.

John Weston was born on March 8, 1661 to the parents of Immigrants John Weston and Sarah Fitch Weston in South Reading (Wakefield), Massachusetts Bay Colony. John Weston III was christened on June 29, 1661 in the First Church of Salem. On November 26, 1684 Ensign John Weston III age 22, married Mary Bryant (aka Briant & Briantt) in Reading, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony. "Reading Marriages, Wesson, John and Mary Briantt, Nov. 26, 1684." Ensign John Weston and Mary Bryant Weston had fourteen children, nine born in South Reading and five in Charlestown.....sadly one son was a stilborn and two son's preceded him in death.

Ensign John Weston entered the Reading service during the King William's War in 1689-1697. Ensign John Weston, Jr. was sworn on April 18, 1691 a Freeman by the General Court of the Colony of Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonies. Ensign John Weston was appointed one of the South Reading Town Selectmen in the years of 1707, 1709-1711.

Ensign John Weston died at the age of 57 intestate on 29 August 1719 in Reading, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts …. leaving his widowed wife Mary Bryant Weston with five children between the ages of 10 through 15 and a large estate to later to be probated by the Court. Ensign John Weston and was interned shortly after his death during 1719 in the 1688 Wakefield Old Burying Ground, where his father and mother, immigrants John Weston and Sarah Fitch Weston were interned. "The first burial place, of Ancient Redding, was on land, at or close to the present location of the band pagoda, in Wakefield's Park, north of Church Street.

Here, for about fifty years, was interred the remains of the early settlers and members of their families, as they "passed on" from year to year*." Ensign John Weston's and his parents, Immigrants John Weston's and Sarah Fitch Weston's and their families graves were interned in the "Weston family plot" in the 1688 "Wakefield Old Burying Ground". Sadly Ensign John Weston's and his parents, Immigrants John Weston's and Sarah Fitch Weston's and their families headstones have been lost with the exception of their son's, Thomas Weston, as historical records document.

Gravesite Details The second burial place, now known as Wakefield "Old Burying Ground" was established in 1688, the year that the Town had decided to abandon the first meeting house, and is now located westerly of the First Parish Church and the Commons.
