John Wheeler, II, of Concord

BIOGRAPHY OF JOHN WHEELER & HIS WIFE DOROTHY HOSMER

John Wheeler was born at Concord on December 6, 1683, the second child of John Wheeler and Sarah Stearns. He grew to manhood in Concord. There is a record in Concord of the marriage of John Wheeler to Dorothy Hosmer on March 8, 1711. Although there were several men named John Wheeler living in Concord at that date , this John is the only one who was in a position to be married on that date, so it is fairly certain that the record is of this John. Dorothy was the daughter of Steven Hosmer and Abigail Wood, she was born in Concord on December 10, 1677.

John and Dorothy had four children, all born in Concord. There is no record of John holding any office in Concord, he must have been a simple colonial farmer. John died in Concord on June 30 , 1737. There is no record of the death of Dorothy. It is possible that she remarried and her death was recorded under a different last name.
