Notes from Francis Cooke of the Mayflower First Five Generations by Ralph V. Woods, Jr., Piction Press 1996

From http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/WASHBURN/2000-06/0961...

The parentage of Jonathan Washburn is established by: (a) his father's will, dated 1686, which names son Jonathan, (b) his brother Benjamin's will, dated 1690, naming brother Jonathan, and (c) a deed, dated 1694, from Jonathan Washburn et al to Samuel Washburn, selling land "left unwilled by our Father & father in law John Washburne deceased..." No marriage record has been found for Jonathan Washburn and Mary Vaughan. However, the will of George Vaughan, dated 30 June 1697, names his daughter Mary Washburn. In a deed, dated 25 October 1697, Jonathan Washburn of Bridgewater, with the consent of his wife Mary, sold a house and land in Middleborough which had been conveyed to Mary by the will of her father, George Vaughan. On 10 January 1725, Benjamin Washbourn of Bridgewater was named administrator on the estate of his father Jonathan Washbourn late of Bridgewater. On the same day, Benjamin Washbourn, with Thomas Snell of Marshfield and Amos Snell of Bridgewater as sureties, posted bond. On 20 June 1727, Mrs. Mary Washburn, widow, was appointed administratrix of the estate of her husband Jonathan Washburn of Taunton, deceased. Apparently this Washburn family lived in the Bridgewater/Taunton area. Possibly Jonathan owned land in both towns, which are in separate counties.

Generation 5 = Josiah WASHBURN was married first to Elizabeth DAVENPORT, & second to Sarah Richmond.
