"David Ziegler, aged 68 years, an old and respected resident of Cranberry township, died at his home at Maple Shade, near East Sandy, at 3 o'clock on Sunday (May 5) afternoon. The deceased is survived by his wife and eight children: William and D.E. (David Emry) Ziegler, of Oil City; Fisher (Jacob Fisher) and George (H.) Ziegler, of Cranberry; Mrs. Fred (Lorena) Hoot, of Fern City; Mrs. Al (Mary Priscilla) Holliday, of Pinoak; Mrs. William (Lovenia) Shaffer, of Hill City. He leaves two brothers, Rev. Henry Ziegler, of Zling's Grove, and A.M. (Martin) Ziegler, of Maple Shade, and two sisters, Mrs. (Suzanna) Hazlett, of North Warren, and Mrs. (Mary) Parker, of St. Petersburg.

The deceased was a loving and devoted husband and father, a citizen of worth, a Christian gentleman, full of manly dignity and merit, and his death has cast a gloom over the entire community where he was so well and favorably known. The funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, at Mt. Zion church, conducted by Rev. Mr. Wharton. A large number of relatives and friends participated in the last sad rites."
