Jonet Peter

JONET PETER (OTHERWISE JONET PEITERS)

is the daughter of Walter Peter, merchant, burgess and guild brother of Glasgow, and his wife, Elizabeth Johns. She was born before 2 January 1701, the date upon which her baptism was registered at Glasgow in Lanarkshire, Scotland [Scotland, Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950, index, FamilySearch] https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XYSK-PXW Her baptismal record reads as follows: "Walter Peiters and Elizabeth Johnes a lawful daughter Jonet witnesses Thomas Peiters and Simon Baird". Thomas Petiers seems likely to be Jonet's paternal grandfather [Registrar General for Scotland, New Register House, Edinburgh, Glasgow Baptisms, 1699-1707, reference OPR.644/80.
