According to "Adkins Family of Wayne County, West Virginia, Also Cabell, Lincoln and Boone," the author, Ronnie Adkins, mentions that "[t]here is very little information on Joseph. He is not one of the hard proven children of William & Elizabeth (Parker), however there is a fair amount of circumstantial evidence pointing in that direction. It is not known to whom he married, however, marriage records from Montgomery (Giles 1806) prove at least four children."[1]

• Nancy, born about 1783, married on 16 December 1797 in Montgomery County, Virginia to James Drake as his second wife[2]
• Elizabeth, married on 5 August 1788 in Montgomery County, Virginia to Charles Hayse[3]

• Joshua, born about 1785, married Adelphia (Delphia) Adkins, daughter of David and Judith Adkins, on 24 April 1807 in Greenbriar County.[4]

Research Notes

This profile previously mentioned that "according to Shawnee Heritage, he was of Native American heritage: 3/8th Pekowi-Chalakatha-Shawano-Chalaka-Chickahominy-Metis."[5] The genealogy is provided in that book but the wives shown as well as some of the children have not yet been proven.
