Joseph T Bowman (1811-1883) was a native of Illinois. Son of Jesse B Bowman who died at the Alamo in Texas in 1836. He arrived in Texas in 1835.
Joseph T Bowman enlisted in a Company, known as the US Provisionals in Nacogdoches, TX in December, 1835. Signed the Goliad Declaration of Independence, which resolved that Texas should become an independent Mexican State.
Following the Texas Revolution, he served in the Republic of Texas Army.
Note: There is a Commemorative Marker honoring his service by the State of Texas.

Joseph was the husband of Martha "Naphania" Hardin (1826-1884). The family moved to the Grapeland, TX area about 1845. They were the parents of 10 children; however only a few of them have been located..
Burial is in the Guiceland Cemetery, Grapeland, Houston County, TX.
