About Joseph Eastman

Biography

Joseph Eastman was mentioned in his father's (John Eastman of Salisbury, Essex County, Massachusetts) will dated March 19, 1716 and proved on April 15, 1720. Joseph Eastman had the homestead. [1]

Death

Guy S. Rix in his Eastman genealogy says that Joseph Eastman died at Hopkinton, New Hampshire, on 8 Oct 1761.[2] A transcription of his death record made by the Hopkinton town clerk in 1905 appears to show the date as 8 Oct 1765, but the last digit is indistinct. It shows his age at death as 70.[3] But in November 1762, the names of both Joseph Eastman and Joseph Eastman Jr. appear on a petition to charter the town of Hopkinton, New Hampshire, which establishes that Joseph was still living as of that date.[4]
