Joseph Geer and his wife settled in the north part of Preston (now Griswold), CT, about 2 miles from his brother, Jonathan, and the place was owned and occupied by family members for many generations. According to records, his father deeded Joseph another tract of land in the town of Preston on February 23, 1707. He lived on the farm until his death.
Joseph was often called upon to act as arbiter in disputed cases, and also on committees on behalf of the town.
